Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Durgapur Women’s College has been established in 2014 as per the guidelines given by UGC for establishment and monitoring of the cell in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary goal of IQAC is to develop a quality benchmark for conscious, consistent and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the college. Being the sole women’s college in Durgapur, Durgapur Women’s College, since its establishment in 1980, remains committed to contribute its best to the field of women’s education and empowerment. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC is trying its best to become a part of the institution’s system and work towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for consistent improvement in the overall performance of institutions. For this, during the post-accreditation period, it will channelize all efforts and measures of the institution towards promoting its holistic academic excellence.
Mission
The mission of this college is the empowerment of women by imparting holistic education and thus to enable them to face the challenges in life. The college is committed to pursue its mission to nurture total development of personality among the students and to equip these young minds with strength, efficiency and values to excel in service to the society.
Objectives
To attain the aforementioned target and fulfil the stated mission of the college the IQAC is trying to develop a well integrated system in accordance with the guidelines framed by the NAAC to monitor and enrich the teaching-learning process of the Institution. The IQAC of this college monitors and coordinates college activities and suggest attaining this target. Primarily, the Cell acts as a nodal agency to ensure dynamic system for quality changes in the college through optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning, digitization at every level of academic and administrative activities, devising organized methodology of documentation and internal communication.
Strategies
- The Cell is particularly aiming at strengthening both academic and administrative performance of the Institution.
- The Cell introduces system of collecting Feedback from students and other stakeholders regarding teaching, infrastructural facilities & administrative support received by the students to ensure qualitative improvement of performances.
- The Cell encourages research activities and tries to persuade the college administration to extend necessary support for the purpose.
- The Cell coordinates among various activities of the institution and gives efforts to institutionalize all good practices.
Functions of IQAC
- Maintaining of day to day records of the various activities and documentation of the same for quality improvement.
- Organising workshop, seminar, symposium, exhibition, etc. on quality related issues and promotion of excellence among all the stakeholders of the Institution.
- Admissions of students in the college are made online to make the process fully transparent.
- Online collection of student fees is introduced.
- Organising orientation workshop for students at the beginning of every semester to make them understand all aspects of CBCS curriculum.
- Notices are served in the college website as well as in the notice board of the college.
- Nurturing the quality related excellence in academic, co-curricular and administrative development of the Institution.
- Proposes to introduce new courses depending on demand and viability.
- Coordinates quality-related activities in the college.
- Generation of awareness and consequent development of the various quality parameters of higher education institution and its role in the society.
- Arrangement for feedback response from students and alumni on quality-related institutional processes.
- Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) for submission to NAAC as per the prescribed proforma.
